Clan and Banner Background
The Shumoli clan appears in volume 55 of the Comprehensive Genealogy of Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners, with households from the Zhan River and Ula. Zhuoman of the Bordered Blue Banner came from the Zhan River area and submitted early. Another family associated with the same banner, descended from Yanzhaku of Ula, included a grandson Hese who served as a cavalry-company officer. Banner colour here denotes official registration rather than ancestral geography.
Family Service and Distinctions
Zhuoman's grandson Changbao became a niru commander. Another grandson, Qindai, campaigned in Yunnan as an acting guard-company officer, distinguishing himself at Shimenkan, Huangcaoba, and outside Yunnan city. He received yunqiwei, later inherited by his son Sige after Qindai retired on grounds of illness. Zhuoman's fifth-generation descendant Daobao held a defence post when the genealogy was compiled. The appointments of the grandsons cannot be rewritten as achievements of Zhuoman himself.
Kinship, Succession, and Evidence
A niru command concerned company administration and household registration; guard- and defence-company officers served military formations. “Acting” designates Qindai's type of temporary appointment. Sige succeeded to the hereditary award, not automatically to his father's military duties. The exact locations of both home settlements and the branches' common ancestors require checking.
