Overview

Ba Da Bayan was a member of the Tatara clan of the Manchu Plain Blue Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. He was of the same clan as Daitukuhali, and his family had lived in Zakumu for generations before submitting to the Qing Dynasty at its inception. Volume 11 of the official clan genealogy compiled during the Qianlong reign, *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that his great-grandson, Lao Han, was a bannerman who led the attack on Fushun from a minor post, and later died in battle during the attack on Yizhou. He was posthumously awarded the title of Qiduwei, which was passed to his son, Salaqi, who was further granted the title of Yunqiwei by imperial decree. When his descendant, Tang Dai, inherited the title, the additional title was removed, but the Qiduwei rank was retained.

"Minor posthumous ... Yuan Sunwo was granted the title of Qiduwei by imperial decree. Later, he was promoted to Yunqiwei for meritorious service in Xinhui. After being punished, his son retained the Yunqiwei title he had earned through military merit, demonstrating the distinction between imperial favor and military achievements. The original entry also listed titles such as Chadou Zhangjing and Shuzi for his descendants, but the specific duties still need to be verified by the relevant authorities. The titles of Bayan, Zakumu, and Pangza's multiple branches of hereditary succession are pending verification. Variant characters in the original entries are retained, and the main text focuses on presenting the meritorious titles of each branch with verifiable origins.
