Overview

Sakshiha was a member of the Irgen Gioro clan of the Plain White Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. His family had lived in the Hunehe area for generations and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty.

The official genealogy of the Manchu clans of the Eight Banners, *The General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 13, includes him as a supplementary entry. It records that his great-grandson, Mawu, served as a defense officer; Changbao is listed as a current infantry officer; and his fourth-generation descendant, Sente, is listed as a supplementary candidate.

The original entry does not include his official title. The core of this short genealogy is the family identity and the different types of careers of his descendants.

Defense officer was a military rank within the Qing Dynasty's banner system and garrison system, and cannot be simply translated as general defensive work. Infantry officer participated in basic infantry management and cannot be confused with cavalry officer.

The "currently serving" in the original text refers to his position at the time of the genealogy's compilation. Mawu and Changbao were both great-grandsons, but their positions, terms of service, and direct fathers' names are not specified, so they cannot be inferred to be father and son or members of the same unit based on their order of appearance.

Supplementary candidate was a category of selection outside the main list of candidates for the imperial examinations, and is different from an official title.

The "Draft History of the Qing Dynasty" records the history and system of the Qing Dynasty. The section on elections explains that the system and use of the supplementary list for the provincial and metropolitan examinations have undergone historical changes. Therefore, it can be introduced that Sente has relevant examination records, but cannot be made a Juren, Jinshi or appointed as an official solely based on the "supplementary list".
