Overview

Xierden was a member of the Irgen Gioro clan of the Plain Red Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. His family had lived in Wahumu for generations and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. Volume 15 of the official clan genealogy compiled during the Qianlong reign, *The General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, does not record his official position. His grandson, Faku, served as a military officer; Woheden served as a cavalry officer; his great-grandson, Zhuhe, served as a first-class bodyguard; Sentehe and Leteli served as military officers; and Hanchuhan served as a doctor. Military officers, guards under the jurisdiction of the government, and doctors are different categories of officials and cannot be collectively referred to as military officers of the same institution.

Military officers were involved in the management and guard duties of the imperial guards; cavalry officers were involved in the affairs of the banner troops; first-class bodyguards mostly belonged to the guard system of princes' mansions and should be distinguished from first-class imperial guards. Doctor is an ancient official title, established in the Imperial Academy and the Court of Imperial Sacrifices during the Qing Dynasty. Hanchuhan lacks information about his institution and cannot be directly identified as a teacher or treated as a modern academic degree.

Yuan Sun Yaqi once served as a military commander, Jin Tu once served as a lieutenant commander, Sida Se is currently a cavalry captain, Wudase is currently a military commander, and fourth-generation descendant Cheng Shu is currently a scribe. The numbers at the beginning indicate names, not troop numbers; "currently" refers to the current status of the compiler. The location of Wahumu, paternal lineage, doctoral institution, and specific term of office still await verification from the original inscription and archives.
