Overview
Xi Han is a member of the Irgen Gioro clan recorded in Volume 15 of the official genealogy of the Eight Banners Manchu clans compiled during the Qianlong reign. He lived in Neyin and submitted to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. In this section's list of bondservants of the Bordered Red Banner, he once served as a Zuo Ling (military officer). Xi Han here is an individual name and should not be mistaken for the name of a Han dynasty or used to determine Han military status; clan, banner affiliation, and bondservant status should be confirmed by the corresponding chapter and position on the list.
His sons Mu Cheng'e, Zhaoda, Yaoda, and Wencha all served as third-class guards; his grandson Mu Zhuhu served as a Zuo Ling; Zhekuli and Qiqin served as military officers; Weige served as a ceremonial officer; and Changge is recorded as the current Zuo Ling. Guards were mostly attendants of the prefecture; military officers were involved in the military organization; ceremonial officers were related to prefectural etiquette; and Zuo Ling managed banner registration and should not be confused with the same rank.
Great-grandson Hetong'a once served as a third-class guard, Lai Seng is currently a military officer, and Dekejin is currently a secretary; the secretary is responsible for drafting and translating documents, and the official agency is not fixed when the original document is unclear. The fact that descendants served as captains in the same position does not prove they inherited the same post. The location of Neyin Village, the affiliation of the bondservant groups, the current date of their appointment, and the various paternal lines still require verification through original inscriptions and archives.
