Overview
Zaksu was a member of the Namudulu clan of the Plain White Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. His ancestral home was in Wohe, and he submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 21, records that his son, Wangge, served as a cavalry officer, and his great-grandson, Shulu, served as a guard officer during the compilation. The cavalry officer was a low-ranking military officer in the Eight Banners' cavalry battalion, involved in the management of military affairs and training of their assigned banner soldiers; the guard officer belonged to the guard battalion, responsible for guard duties, surveillance, and expeditions. The two positions corresponded to different battalion systems. Wangge and Shulu were separated by a generation, and the original genealogy did not list a complete father-son relationship between them, making it impossible to supplement the genealogy by listing them adjacently. The Plain White Banner was the banner affiliation of the Zaksu family; Namudulu was the clan name; and Wohe was their ancestral home. These three cannot be combined into a single place name or surname. The original genealogy grouped these individuals from various places with the same clan, providing information on the family origin and some descendants' official positions, rather than complete individual biographies. Whether Zhaksu himself held an official position, when he died, and the specific year he surrendered still require further verification from other documents.
