Overview
Laduha was a member of the Fucha clan of the Bordered Yellow Banner in the early Qing Dynasty. His family had lived in Shaji for generations and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 25, records that his grandson Changshou served as a scribe, and Naqin as a Qiduwei; his great-grandson Bursai served as an infantry captain, Mingtai as a deputy commander, and Shishun as a Qiduwei; his great-great-grandson Kemeng'e served as a ceremonial attendant. A scribe is a Manchu official title, commonly transliterated as *bithesi*, responsible for copying and translating Manchu and Chinese documents and handling official paperwork. The original genealogy does not list the office where Changshou worked. Cavalry captains and infantry captains belonged to different military management systems, and a deputy commander was another level of banner-level military officer; these positions cannot be considered as a series of promotions for one person. A ceremonial attendant was a guide in ceremonies, responsible for chanting hymns and other ritualistic duties; the institution and rank should be verified according to official documents. Laduha's clan (Fucha), his banner affiliation (Bordered Yellow Banner), and his ancestral home in Shaji provide clues about his family, institutions, and region. The existing records do not contain Laduha's official title, nor do they specify the father-son relationship between Changshou and Naqin; "current" only refers to the state at the time of the original compilation, not that he is still in office today.
