Overview
Fei Deli, whose name is written as "Fei Deli" in the text, was a member of the Wanyan clan of the Bordered Blue Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 28, appendices to various regions, records him as a native of the Orkhon region. His son, Fudali, served as a Vanguard Commander, and Eyideli as a Guard Commander; his grandson, Heidase, also served as a Guard Commander, and Fuerjiaqi as a Cavalry Commander; his great-great-grandson, Heige, was a Deputy Cavalry Commander, and Zhulu was a Deputy Guard Commander. This group concludes by explaining their submission to the Qing Dynasty in its early years.
The Vanguard Battalion and the Guard Battalion were different components of the Eight Banners military system. The Vanguard Commander led his subordinate vanguard, the Guard Commander was responsible for the military affairs of the Guard, and the Cavalry Commander belonged to the Cavalry system. The Deputy Cavalry Commander and Deputy Guard Commander listed in the original genealogy must retain their auxiliary position nature; the word "Deputy" cannot be omitted to elevate their rank. The different battalions in similar official titles affect actual responsibilities and cannot be generally translated as the same officer.
This record lists descendants at three levels: grandson, great-grandson, and great-great-grandson, showing that the family participated in the banner military affairs for multiple generations, but it does not provide evidence of continuous succession within the same organization. The official position of Fei Deli himself, the modern location of Orkhon, the intermediate lineage of his great-great-grandsons, and the locations of each individual's residence are yet to be verified; the characters "De" and "De" are explained side-by-side in the newly added text, while the original entries are retained.
