Overview
Xibali was a member of the Koude clan of the Plain White Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. Volume 29 of the officially compiled *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners* records that his family originally resided in Yehe and submitted to the Qing at the beginning of the dynasty. The title "Koude" indicates the clan name, "Plain White Banner" indicates the Eight Banner affiliation, and "Yehe" indicates the family's historical ancestral home; these three pieces of information do not imply that he personally held a specific banner official position.
His son, Ertui, participated in the attack on Pingdu Prefecture as a non-official, being the first to scale the city walls and receiving the title of Baturu and Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank). After the conquest of the Central Plains, he was further promoted to Yunqiwei and later granted the title of Third-Class Qingche duwei (hereditary merit rank) by imperial decree. Baturu was an honorary title, while Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank), Yunqiwei, and Qingche duwei (hereditary merit rank) were hereditary positions. "Non-official" refers to a banner official status without holding the corresponding position; these four are not different ways of referring to the same rank.
Ertui had no heir, and the title subsequently passed to his brother's branch, succeeded by Alan, Ahasuose, Santa, Yantai, and others. At the time of compilation, it was inherited by Yitne. Multiple instances of childlessness leading to changes in kinship cannot be considered a continuous father-son chain. Modern Yehe can be referenced to the Yehe Manchu Town area in Tiedong District, Siping, but specific former residences still need further verification. The original text regarding the Pingdu war years, kinship chains, and the title of Baturu awaits verification against the original inscription.
