Overview

Xifo was a member of the Daijia clan, a bondservant of the Plain Yellow Banner. Volume 29 of the Qing Dynasty official compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records his ancestral home as Yehe under the section "Daijia Clans in Various Places," with the year of his submission unknown. He held the position of Inner Commander. Xifo here has a separate entry, and is not the same person as Song'ai from the Hangjia clan in the same volume. The correspondence between names must be based on the title of the entry, not simply on the table of contents.

bondservant were a specific group within the Eight Banners with a defined affiliation. The Inner Commander was part of the Imperial Household Department's system of managing bondservant personnel and related service matters. It was not an official position managing ordinary local counties; "Plain Yellow Banner" indicates the banner affiliation, and "Inner Commander" indicates the management system. The word "appointed" in this entry does not explicitly state whether he held the previous or current position; the newly added entry only introduces the title, not the current status.

Xifo's son, Moerhun, served as Inner Commander in the Yunnan campaign, and was awarded the title of Yunqiwei for his merits. After his death, his younger brother, Gadahun, inherited the title. His grandson, Dachun, once served as Deputy Inner Commander. The Inner Deputy Commander assisted in relevant administrative affairs. The Yunqiwei was a hereditary position, and military merit could not be exchanged for the Inner Commander's rank. The modern Yehe region can be referenced to the Yehe Manchu Town area of Tiedong District, Siping City; the specific former residences await verification. The date of submission, the term of office of the Inner Commander, and the succession procedures of the Gadahun are pending verification.
