Overview

Shengde was a member of the Zhaojia clan of the Plain White Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. Volume 31 of the official Qing Dynasty compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that he was from the Macha region. His son, Saihua, served as a Langzhong (a type of official), and his grandson, Sardu, served as a Bitieshi (a type of scribe). The conclusion of this section explains his submission to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The character "De" retains the original entry for the mother's name, Macha provides historical ancestral home information, and the Plain White Banner provides information on his affiliation within the Eight Banners organization.

A Langzhong was an administrative official in a government office, responsible for official duties within their department or institution; not a doctor as mentioned here. A Bitieshi is a transliteration of the Manchu word bithesi, referring to a clerical official involved in the drafting and translation of Manchu and Chinese documents and government records. Both titles are related to administration, but their responsibilities, ranks, and appointment methods differ; a Bitieshi cannot be directly equated to a Langzhong's assistant.

The fact that father and son entered the civil service system does not necessarily mean they served in the same agency, nor can the official positions of Saihua and Sardu be used to infer that Shengde himself served as a clerk. The original term "original post" in the genealogy indicates past positions held relative to the time of compilation, without specifying start and end years. Connections to Machadiwang, Langzhongbuyuan, Bitieshi institutions, and intermediate relatives are pending verification; the original materials are preserved intact.
