Overview

Yahana was a member of the Lijia clan of the Bordered Yellow Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. Volume 33 of the official Qing Dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that his family originally resided in Zakumu and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. His son, Xilai, served as an acting military commander in the Zhejiang campaign, defeating Liu Guoxuan's army at Guotang Mountain. He subsequently participated in the Huangcaoba campaign in Yunnan, earning the title of Yunqiwei for his merits. After his death, his son, Zhongde, inherited the title.

The Bordered Yellow Banner was one of the Eight Banners, and banner registration was linked to military service, household registration, and military records. An acting military commander indicated that he was entrusted with relevant military duties and should retain the nature of an acting position; Yunqiwei was a hereditary title awarded by the court. Zhongde inherited this reward, and it cannot be inferred that he also succeeded his father as an acting commander.

The original genealogy also records that Sun Xianbao served as the Junior Chamberlain of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices at the time of compilation. The Junior Chamberlain of the Court of Imperial Sacrifices belonged to the system of literary attendants, lecturers, and classics affairs, not a military hereditary title. The name of the institution helps to understand the difference between this official and a general military commander. The military achievements of Xilai, the hereditary titles of Zhongde and Xianbao have been assigned to their respective places. The location of Zakumu, the position of Guotang Mountain, and the original provincial name of Shaozhan are pending verification.
