Overview
Sukturi was a member of the Wuzhaku clan of the Bordered Blue Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 34, records him as a native of Saharcha. His great-grandson, Miaose, served as a military officer, and his great-great-grandson, Jilantai, served as a scribe during the compilation process. This section concludes by stating that he submitted to the Qing Dynasty in its early years. Saharcha is a historical ancestral name and cannot be used alone to pinpoint a modern county or village or determine an individual's birthplace.
The Bordered Blue Banner was one of the Eight Banners, and its system organized military service and managed the banner's population's household registration and military records. The military officer led his assigned troops and was responsible for military duties such as guard duty, while the scribe was a government administrative staff member. These two positions had different natures, and Jilantai's clerical role cannot be mistaken for that of an assistant to the military officer.
The Manchu transliteration of scribe is bithesi, and the Chinese name is a transliteration. The duties of copying and translating Manchu and Chinese documents can help readers understand this unfamiliar official title. Miao Se is a great-grandson, and Ji Lantai is a great-great-grandson; their official positions are not included in Suktuli's own career. The ancestral home, administrative offices, military garrison locations, and connections to intermediate relatives need further verification.
