Overview

Serqiu was a member of the Kuyala clan of the Plain Blue Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 34, records him as a native of Hurha. His grandson, Sente, served as an infantry officer, and his great-grandson, Liubaozhu, served as a third-class guard at the time of compilation. The conclusion of this section states that he submitted to the Qing during the Tiancong era. Tiancong was the reign title of the Later Jin Dynasty under Huang Taiji, so it cannot be interpreted as the earlier group submitting at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty or the later group having an undetermined date.

An infantry officer belonged to the infantry guard system, and a third-class guard served as a protector of princes and nobles; they could not be interchanged with the emperor's third-class bodyguards. The Plain Blue Banner was part of the Eight Banners organization, and the banner system involved not only military service but also household registration and military register management; family members entering different military and government positions did not necessarily inherit the same position.

Sente was a grandson, and Liubaozhu was a great-grandson; their positions should be attributed to their respective ancestors and cannot be changed to Serqiu's two official titles. Hurha is the original historical name of the ancestral home in the genealogy, and the name involves a broad geographical context; it should not be used to pinpoint a specific modern village based on its transliteration. The specific ancestral residence, royal residence, and intergenerational lineage are yet to be verified; the period of submission will be preserved according to the original group.
