Overview
Suertong'a was a member of the Sakda clan of the Bordered Blue Banner. Volume 35 of the official Qing dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that his family originally lived in the Emohui River area. The year of his submission is unknown. He once served as a city gate captain. His son, Saibitu, served as a zuoling (banner-company commander), and Sehei as an Yuanwailang (official in charge of official duties). His grandson, Baoshan, served as a Bitieshi (scribe). Haibao, as a military officer, fought in battle in Pingliang Prefecture, Shaanxi, and was posthumously awarded the title of Yunqiwei (military officer).
The city gate captain was responsible for gate security; the zuoling managed the household registration and military records of the lower-level bannermen; the Yuanwailang was an administrative position; the Bitieshi handled official documents; and the military officer served in the military system. Haibao's Yunqiwei was a posthumous hereditary title, different in nature from his grandfather's city gate captain position; civil officials and military officers cannot be considered the same type of officer.
Haibao had no heirs. His elder brother's son, Brantai, and his grandson, Tulantai, continued the title. The original genealogy retains the collateral branches and generational relationships, without changing it to a continuous father-son chain. Emohui River is the name of the ancestral home, while Pingliang is the battlefield of the grandchildren; they cannot be substituted for each other. The location of the river, the city where the city gate was located, and the succession order are yet to be verified, and the date of submission remains unknown.
