Overview

Kui Tai was a member of the Bayara clan of the Plain White Banner. Volume 38 of the official Qing dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that he lived in the Changbai Mountains region and submitted to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. Changbai Mountains was the ancestral home area in the original genealogy, and the Plain White Banner was part of the Eight Banners organization; neither directly indicates an individual's official position or specific village, nor can one alter ancestral origins based on the battlefield location of later generations.

His grandson, Daina, served in the campaign in Jiangnan as a non-official, and died in battle while attacking Yangzhou. He was posthumously awarded the title of Qiduwei. He had no heir, so his uncle's son, Bulguo, inherited the title, and was later granted the title of Yunqiwei by imperial decree. "Non-official" indicates his status at the time; Qiduwei and Yunqiwei were hereditary titles. The posthumous honors differed from his actual posthumous position, so it's impossible to add an unrecorded military rank to Daina's title.

The hereditary title was later inherited by Juehetuo and Liuzhu. When the two Ge inherited it, the portion granted by imperial decree was deducted, but the Qiduwei title was retained. It was later passed to Sa Chong'a. Erge, Liuzhu, etc., are personal names in the genealogy, not algebraic markers; kinship at different inheritance nodes should be determined separately. The specific location of the ancestral home, the original printed source in Yangzhou, the date of Daina's death in battle, and the lineage inherited by Burguo need to be verified against the original printed source and archives. The experiences of later generations will not be transferred to Kuitai.
