Overview
Ba Jintai, also known as Ba Jintai, appears in Volume 54 of the Qing Dynasty official genealogy book *General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, under the appendix on the Hong Echun clan. He belonged to the Bordered Blue Banner and was of the same clan as Qi Tali. His family had lived in Qi Village, Yihan Alintun, for generations, and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The original book lists his grandsons, Bolt and Tuoluo, as having served as Xiaoqixiao (military cavalry officers), but does not record Ba Jintai's own official position.
Xiaoqixiao was a low-ranking officer in the Eight Banners' cavalry organization, involved in the management and training of soldiers. Higher ranks included Zuoling (military captain), Canling (military captain), and Dutong (military commander), so it cannot be interpreted as the highest military commander of a banner. The fact that two of his descendants held this position indicates that this branch of the family was related to the banner system, but it does not prove that they held the position simultaneously, succeeded each other, or managed soldiers in the same Zuoling.
Hong Echun is a Manchu clan name, Bordered Blue Banner was part of the Eight Banners system, and the name of their ancestral village provides geographical clues. The lineage of Yuansun must be maintained and cannot be changed to grandson to complete the genealogy; there is no specific degree of kinship between him and Qitali. The consecutive names of Bolt and Tuoluo should still be re-corrected based on the book's image. Bajintai and Wuerdashi Bujintai have similar characters but belong to different clans and should not be merged; the modern location of the village and the term of office still need to be verified.
