Overview
Chaku is a figure from the Bordered Blue Banner under the Meng'e Suo clan in Volume 57 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. His family had lived in the Zhanhe area for generations. The book lists him among those who came to the country at the beginning of the dynasty, but does not provide his official position, birth and death dates, or details of his migration.
The most prominent feature of this entry is the preservation of family official positions spanning multiple generations: his fourth-generation descendant, Liaodun, served as a Censor; Changshou served as a Military Commander; his fifth-generation descendant, Sutonga, served as a Principal; Baishan served as an Infantry Commander; and Suozhu served as a Cavalry Commander when the genealogy was compiled; his sixth-generation descendant, Yichanga, also served as an Infantry Commander when the genealogy was compiled. The positions listed in the original text span both clerical supervision and the Eight Banners military, but these are all experiences of later generations, not Chaku's own resume.
"Former" and "current" reflect the state of the record at the time of compilation and cannot be directly converted into usable start and end dates of office today. The exact location of Zhanhe, as a place of ancestral residence, also needs to be confirmed using historical maps. Therefore, the individual entries in Chaku should focus on clan affiliation, banner affiliation, and lineage of descendants, rather than artificially adding personal achievements that are not found in historical records.
