Overview
The Zhuergen clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 57 of the official genealogy of the Manchu clans of the Eight Banners, compiled during the Qianlong reign. The surname is listed as Zhuergen, and the general introduction as Zhuergen. Their ancestral home was in Solon and Heilongjiang. The Neitugen branch of the Bordered White Banner resided in Solon and submitted to the Qing dynasty during the Tiancong reign. Their son, Balhai, served as a military officer; their grandson, Tapushtu, served as a seventh-rank official; and their great-grandson, Heshang, served as a scribe.
There were also two other branches in the Plain Blue Banner, Meidang'a and Wuerda, who lived in Heilongjiang. The year of their submission is unknown. Meidang'a's fifth-generation descendant, Gaobao, served as a cavalry officer; Wuerda's great-grandson, Deleng'e, was a student. "Student" was a qualification within the school and imperial examination system and could not be directly equated with an official position. "Heshang" in the Neitugen lineage is a descendant's name and cannot be used to determine if they engaged in monastic activities.
Military officers and cavalry officers belonged to different military units; "scribe" is a transliteration of the Manchu word "bithesi," an official responsible for drafting, translating, and other document-related tasks. For officials of the seventh rank, only their rank is recorded; their specific duties must be investigated separately. This article retains the original title and does not arbitrarily unify the variant spellings of "Zhu" and "Zhu"; its Manchu spelling, the specific scope of the Solon ancestral home, and the relationship between the three branches still need to be verified.
