Overview
The Duya'er clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 60 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, an official compilation of the Qianlong Emperor's reign. They were originally from Hunhu Linuktel. The year of Monggordai's submission to the Qing Dynasty is unknown; he served as a military officer, as did his son, Amuchaku. This entry clearly shows the positions held by father and son, and their names cannot be combined simply because they held the same position.
The military officer managed the subordinate guards within the military organization, and their duties were related to guard duty and accompanying troops on campaigns; they were lower-ranking military officers. It was not a title granted to the family, and the fact that both father and son held this position does not automatically prove that the same vacancy was hereditary. Whether they belonged to the same battalion or whether they succeeded each other requires further explanation from their individual resumes and vacancy records.
The relationship between Monggordai and Amuchaku is clear, but the original text does not list their birth and death dates, official rank transfers, or military merit awards. Duyaer is the surname, Zhengbaiqi is the organizational name, and Hunhulinuktel is the ancestral place name, each providing different levels of identification information; long place names should be preserved as a whole and not split into two modern villages based on pronunciation. the original printed edition, Manchu surname, time of submission, and the dates of official appointments of father and son for compound place names still need to be verified, and abbreviated entries should not be taken as proof of the lack of subsequent history.
Monggordai is recorded as a member of the Plain White Banner.
