Overview
The Duojin clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 61 of the official genealogy of the Manchu clans of the Eight Banners, compiled during the Qianlong reign. Their ancestral home was Suodoli Village, Heilongjiang Province. The year of Yinzhaka's submission to the Bordered Red Banner is unknown. His grandson, Qiqitai, served as an infantry officer, and his great-grandson, Hehubao, served as a vanguard officer. Besides the broader Heilongjiang region, the genealogy also retains the name of Suodoli Village, providing more specific textual clues for tracing their ancestral home.
The infantry officer was part of the infantry system, involved in urban guarding and patrolling; the vanguard officer managed their subordinate vanguards and served in their military duties—the two were different. Qiqitai and Hehubao belonged to the grandson and great-grandson generations respectively; both positions cannot be attributed to Yinzhaka, nor can Hehubao be definitively identified as Qiqitai's son based solely on generational ranking.
Duojin is the clan name, Bordered Red Banner refers to their official status, and the ancestral village name is geographical information. While official records can demonstrate the military service of the family descendants, they do not record specific expeditions, military achievements, or hereditary qualifications, and therefore cannot be expanded into an unverified family history of meritorious officials. The modern location of Sodoli Village, its Manchu surname, the date of submission, the military unit to which the two officials belonged, and the complete paternal chain still need to be verified. The current provincial border of Heilongjiang or a modern homonymous village cannot be used to directly replace the historical ancestral home.
