Overview
The Fuxi clan appears in Volume 62 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, where it is listed as a Manchu surname, and the family has resided in Fushan. The record mentions a family of Wohe, belonging to the Plain Blue Banner of bondservant (baoyi). Wohe surrendered to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty and served as a third-class guard; his son, Hada, served as a military officer. "Hada" here refers to the son, and the ancestral home is clearly recorded as Fushan; these two should not be confused as the same place name.
The Plain Blue Banner was the family's banner affiliation, and being a bondservant (baoyi) indicates a specific subordinate and service relationship within the banner. Within the bondservant group, there were management, guard, and various other duties; being a bondservant does not mean that members did not hold official positions. The official positions held by Wohe and his son reflect that this status and military rank could coexist.
A third-class guard was a rank within the guards of princes and nobles, responsible for guard duties, and should be distinguished from the emperor's guard system; a military officer was a junior officer in the guard organization, involved in leading soldiers, guarding, and training. Although both the father and son's titles contain the character "guard," their specific positions were different. The historical location of Fushan, the specific prefecture to which the father and son belonged, and the years of their service are yet to be verified. This article retains the identities and titles in the genealogy.
