Clan and locality

Ajinai was an Irgen Gioro clansman of the Bordered Yellow Banner. The family was associated with Walji Hoton, a historical settlement, and entered the Manchu polity in its early years. Volume 15 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Eight Banner Manchu Clans* records no office held by Ajinai himself. Its information relates to later members of the family.

Military appointments across generations

Ajinai's grandson Yadu formerly served as a *xiaoqixiao*, an officer with responsibilities for Banner soldiers. Among his great-grandsons, Liuge formerly held a *hujunxiao* appointment in the Guard, while Kurchan also served as a *xiaoqixiao*. A subsequent-generation descendant, Guanseli, formerly held the Guard office of *hujunxiao*. The two military structures had different institutional responsibilities. Repeated appointments of the same type among several relatives do not prove that one hereditary office was transferred from person to person.

The words transliterated as Liuge and Guanseli are the individuals' personal names, rather than a reference to a number of men or to an unidentified office. Without the name of an assigned *niru*, garrison or establishment, no common posting should be assumed.

Missing genealogical links

Although the source gives relative generational positions, it does not identify every intervening father. The sequence of names therefore cannot automatically be turned into a verified line of fathers and sons. Walji Hoton is a historical settlement name whose present-day location is not established in the available text. The original forms of the names, the exact allegiance date and the men's terms of appointment require additional archival verification.
