Overview
Bo Qina was a bondservant of the Plain White Banner of the Aha Gioro clan, residing in Huifa. The year of his submission is unknown. The official clan genealogy, *The General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 18, records that his great-great-grandson, Sange, served as a military officer; Sige and Sibaozhu served as deputy commanders; Baochangzhu served as an assistant secretary; Changbaozhu served as treasurer; and Dubao served as a scribe. His fourth-generation descendants also held positions as military officer, treasurer, and scribe.
The deputy commander was a deputy position within the bondservant leadership organization, involved in personnel and supply management; the treasurer was responsible for the affairs of the subordinate treasury, and neither should be simply understood as a private steward. An assistant secretary was an official in a government office, with actual duties varying depending on the institution. A scribe handled Manchu-Chinese documents, translation, and archives; and a military officer was a junior officer in the military system. These different positions indicate that descendants of this branch did not exclusively engage in the same type of court service, nor did they all serve in the same institution. The original genealogy mainly listed distant descendants and did not record Bo Qina's own official titles. The three- or four-part numbers represent name information and should not be used to write birth order or official rank; the character “rare character form (consult Chinese source)” is retained as the original character form.
