Overview
Kaqika was a bondservant of the Bordered Red Banner of the Aha Gioro clan, residing in Odoli. The year of his submission is unknown. The official clan genealogy, *The General Genealogy of the Eight Banners Manchu Clans*, Volume 18, records that he once served as a seventh-rank official (dianyi (ceremonial official)), his son Hemin served as a third-class bodyguard, and his great-grandson Senchehe served as a military officer (hujunxiao).
An official (dianyi (ceremonial official)) was a position involved in the ceremonial affairs of their affiliated institution. The original text gives the seventh-rank rank, indicating that it was not merely a ceremonial title. The positions of officials (dianyi (ceremonial official)) varied among different princely residences and other institutions. Since the name of the residence is not given in this entry, it is not expanded to include presiding over all ceremonies at the emperor's side. Third-class bodyguards primarily connected with the guard system of princely residences; palace guards had their own system, and Hemin cannot be directly rewritten as a third-class bodyguard. Military officers (hujunxiao) belonged to the lower level of the military administration, responsible for guard duty and related military affairs, different from the ceremonial administrative work of officials (dianyi (ceremonial official)). The bondservant status and the seventh-rank official (dianyi (ceremonial official)) title provide information on affiliation and position, respectively, and should be retained side-by-side. The three generations holding different positions demonstrate family etiquette, guard duties, and military service, but the existing provisions do not specify hereditary succession to the same official post. The specific dates of Odori's appointment and his term of office remain to be verified.
