Overview
Dobono was a member of the Nara clan of the Plain Red Banner in the early Qing Dynasty. His ancestral home was Zhangdi, and he submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. Volume 24 of the official Qing Dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that his great-grandson, Gorbitu, served as an Assistant Minister in the Court of Colonial Affairs. After four years of evaluation, he was awarded the title of Yunqiwei (a military rank) for his competence. Later, by imperial decree, he was promoted to Third-class Qingche duwei, but the additional imperial decree was removed from his descendants' titles. His fourth-generation descendant, Nemuqi, managed the horse herds of the Ministry of War and also received the title of Yunqiwei after four years of administrative evaluation, later being promoted to Chief Secretary. This title was subsequently inherited by Xing'eli, Langtu, and Shangnai. These two awards came from performance evaluation and herding management, and cannot be simply attributed to military merit. Yunqiwei and Qingche duwei were hereditary titles, Assistant Minister was a department-level administrative official, and Chief Secretary was part of the prefectural administration system; these titles should be separated. The original genealogy also records that Nengtu served as Minister of Justice, Shulan as Vice Minister of Works, and Serdeng as Director of the Imperial Academy, among other positions held by his descendants. The position of Siyue was an educational administrator at the Imperial Academy, not a modern academic degree. The fact that he was related to Baixi of the Yehe region is a clan connection, not necessarily indicating a shared banner, region, or direct fraternal relationship.
