Overview
Baljun was a member of the Sikterli clan of the Bordered Yellow Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. The official Qing Dynasty compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 34, records him as a native of the Yilan Fertah region. His great-great-grandson, Dase, served as a Qiduwei, and Suhe served as a military commander at the time of compilation. This section concludes by stating that he submitted to the Qing Dynasty in its early years. Long place names are preserved in their original form, without literal derivation of unverified villages.
The Bordered Yellow Banner was one of the Eight Banners. The banner system linked military affairs with the management of banner members' household registration and military registers. The Qiduwei led the daily military affairs of his assigned cavalry, while the military commander led the guards and performed duties such as imperial guard duties. These two titles belonged to different battalions and ranks, and cannot be rewritten as referring to the same type of general, nor can their specific garrison locations be inferred from their titles.
Dase and Suhe are listed as great-great-grandsons, indicating that they were appointed by later generations, not as Baljun's two sons. The current and former officials only correspond to their status at the time of compilation, without supplementing the number of years in office; contemporaries are not directly considered brothers. The location of Ilan Fertah, intergenerational kinship chains, and appointments in various battalions are to be verified; his official career is not supplemented based on the official titles of his descendants.
