Overview
Zakuna was a member of the Kuyala clan of the Plain Blue Banner. Volume 34 of the official Qing dynasty compilation, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, does not explicitly record his original place of origin or the year of his submission. His son, Qiwanglun, initially held a minor post but was awarded the rank of Qiduwei due to his competence in official duties. He later died in battle during the Jinzhou military campaign. His grandson, Hafuna, inherited the title and was promoted to Second-class Qingche duwei by imperial decree. He was later dismissed and the title passed to his son, Fune.
Qiduwei and Qingche duwei were hereditary titles. The minor post was a banner-level status. The reward for his service and his death in battle represent different stages. When Fune inherited the title, the imperial decree's bonus was removed, but he retained the Qiduwei title. The title then passed through Chubao to his uncle, Jiune. Successive breaks caused by the absence of direct heirs must not be simplified into an uninterrupted father-to-son succession. The lack of heirs caused an interruption in the succession, making it impossible to classify it as a typical father-son inheritance.
The Yongzheng Emperor, by a specific imperial decree, reduced the original Qiduwei title to Yunqiwei, allowing Jiune's granddaughter's husband, Namudulu Minsen, to inherit it. This is a specific case involving a different surname and cannot be generalized to mean that all hereditary titles in the Eight Banners could be inherited by any son-in-law. The original place of origin of Zakuna, the characters of Qiwanglun and Jiune, the original edict and the kinship chain are pending verification, and all existing information without records and special inheritance conditions are preserved.
