Overview
Zhanbulu was a member of the Sakda clan of the Bordered Blue Banner during the early Qing Dynasty. Volume 35 of the officially compiled *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners* records that his family originally lived in the Ula region and submitted to the Qing Dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. His son, Maisike, participated in the attack on Qiangzi Ridge as a non-official and was awarded the rank of Yunqiwei (hereditary merit rank). His grandson, Maxin, inherited the title and was promoted to Third-class Qingche duwei by imperial decree. He later died in battle in Hengzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, and was posthumously awarded the rank of Second-class Qingche duwei.
Non-official status was a banner-level position, while Yunqiwei and Qingche duwei were hereditary titles. Maxin had no heir, and the hereditary title was inherited by his uncle, Zhimangjilu, and then passed to Mardai. Mardai was promoted to First-Class for his meritorious service in the battle against Galdan. Later, when Amin'a inherited the title, the imperial decree's additional promotion was removed, but he retained the rank of Qiduwei and concurrently Yunqiwei. The ancestral rewards and the new military achievements of later generations should be understood separately.
Other descendants included Yuanwailang and Bitieshi, involved in administrative and clerical appointments. The location of Wula can be referenced to the historical site area of Wula Street in Longtan District, Jilin City, but this does not prove the specific former residence. The location of Qiangziling, the connection of the offspringless collateral branches, and the years of various appointments are yet to be verified. The military merits of his sons and descendants were not attributed to Zhanbulu himself.
