Overview
Aisu was a member of the Bordered Blue Banner of the Hitara clan of the Manchus. Volume 43 of the officially compiled *General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners* from the Qing Dynasty explicitly states that his original place of origin and year of submission are unknown, therefore the ancestral home of others of the same surname cannot be attributed to him. The core experience that can be confirmed by existing records is that he participated in military operations against Chahar and Yunnan as a military officer, and was awarded the title of Qiduwei and concurrently a Yunqiwei for his meritorious service.
A military officer was an officer in the Eight Banners' military system, responsible for the management, training, and duty of his assigned troops, and could accompany the army in war. The title of Qiduwei and concurrently a Yunqiwei was a combination of hereditary titles for meritorious officials, a basis for military rewards and subsequent inheritance, and did not indicate that Aisu held two separate specific cavalry command positions. This distinction helps to understand the original text's order of recording military rank first, followed by hereditary title.
After Aisu's death, his son Hanchuha inherited the hereditary title and served as a captain; after Hanchuha's death, his son Kandase inherited the title and served as a third-class guard, later resigning due to illness; Kandase's brother Balin inherited the position during the compilation. The third-class guard was a guard officer rank, and the hereditary title inheritance is recorded in two parallel ways. The specific years, units, and battlefield details of Aisu's participation in the two battles are yet to be verified; the generalized account of his campaigns will not be used to expand upon battle details not found in historical records.
