Overview
Dukachan was a member of the Ilari clan, originally from Yehe, who submitted to the Qing dynasty at its beginning. Volume 47 of the official Qing dynasty compilation, *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records him as belonging to the Bordered White Banner, with a note at the end of the entry stating he was transferred from the Bordered Yellow Banner. Banner affiliation was a subordination within the Eight Banners' military and political organization, and was subject to change. This document records both previous and current banner affiliations but does not specify the date of the transfer, so it cannot be attributed to a crime or a battle.
His great-grandson, Sarna, served as an acting military officer in Yunnan, fighting against He Jizu's forces in the Shimenkan and Huangcaoba areas, earning the rank of Yunqiwei (Yunqiwei). Later, he was promoted to Qiduwei (Qiduwei) for his merits in the campaign against Galdan. After Sarna's death, his son Zengshou inherited the position, but was later dismissed due to some incident, and his younger brother, Sige, succeeded him. The title of acting military officer was a specific appointment, with the military officer responsible for the management of grassroots guards; Qiduwei was a hereditary title, inheritable by successors with approval, and not equivalent to a fixed military command position. The genealogy also records that Dukachan's great-grandson, Nalanga, once served as a secretary, and his fourth-generation descendant, Mase, served as a lieutenant and Narsai as a second-class guard, respectively involved in document management, banner personnel management, and the affairs of attendants in the princes' mansions. The reasons for the change of affiliation, the dates of the war, and the complete lineage of each branch still need to be verified.
