Overview
Juehuo was a member of the Youhulu clan. The official *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, Volume 50, states that the surname originated from a place name. Juehuo himself belonged to the Plain White Banner, and his family had lived in Ying'e for generations, surrendering to the Qing dynasty at the beginning of the dynasty. The origin of the surname and his ancestral home are two separate matters: the place name of the surname was Youhulu, but the genealogy records his family's residence as Ying'e; the place of residence cannot be changed based on the surname.
Juehuo served as a military officer in the campaigns in Huguang and Jiangxi, fighting in Jingzhou and Nanchang. During the attack on Jiujiang, he was the first to scale the city walls without using ladders, sustaining an arrow wound. For his military merit, he was awarded the rank of Qiduwei, and later twice received imperial edicts elevating him to the rank of Third-Class Qingche duwei. The position of Military Officer was a low-ranking military post within the military system, with duties including guard duty and the right to accompany the army on campaigns; Qiduwei and Qingche duwei were hereditary titles awarded for military merit.
After his death, his son Wata inherited the position, followed by his younger brother Cunzhu, and then Cunzhu's son Heidase. When Heidase inherited the title, the portion granted by imperial decree was deducted, but the cavalry captaincy was retained. This record shows the hereditary transfer of the title among relatives; not every successor participated again in the battles experienced by Jue and Tuo. Ying'e's position, injuries, and the dates of each conferment of the title are still to be verified.
