Overview
Darhan was a member of the Wentehe clan. Volume 50 of the officially compiled *General Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners* records him as a member of the Plain Yellow Banner, residing in Jiyang for generations, and submitting to the Qing dynasty at its beginning. The volume also states that he was related to Woheteng, who was from the same banner and village. This is a clear clan connection provided in the original text, which can be used to link the two records, but "from the same clan" does not directly indicate that the two were brothers or father and son.
Darhan's son, Danbulu, served as a cavalry captain; his grandson, Samubulu, served as an assistant instructor; Duhan also served as a cavalry captain; another grandson, Haidu, served as an acting military officer in the campaigns in Sichuan and Shaanxi, and later, for his meritorious service in the campaign against Galdan, was awarded the title of Qiduwei and appointed as an infantry captain. Haidu died without an heir, and the hereditary position was inherited by his younger brother's son, Changcun, and later, through Bag, to Wudase. The genealogy also records that Darhan's great-grandson, Mengke, was an official, and his great-great-grandson, Sishi, was a deputy cavalry captain.
The "forty" here refers to a person's name and should not be interpreted as a number of people; "assistant instructor" is an official title for teaching staff, and "cavalry captain" and "infantry captain" belong to different military units. The title of "cavalry captain" in Haidu was a hereditary position, while "infantry captain" was a separately recorded actual military post, and they must be described separately. The historical location of Jiyang and the collateral relationship upon which Wu Dase inherited the title still need verification; a complete lineage cannot be supplemented without relying on clan records.
