Overview
Qierkede: Qierkede is a member of the Andara clan in Volume 56 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. He belonged to the Plain Blue Banner and his family had lived in Heilongjiang for generations, submitting to the Qing dynasty during the Tiancong era. Tiancong was the reign title used by Huang Taiji during the Later Jin period, limiting the time of his ancestor's submission and not applicable to determining the dates of all his son's military campaigns.
His son, Yeduhe, was appointed acting commander in the campaigns in Zhejiang, fighting at Shitang, Taipingshan, and Guotangshan. Later, he participated in the campaigns in Yunnan, fighting at Huangcaoba and the battles around Yunnan City. The original text records that after his death, he was posthumously awarded the title of Qiduwei, which was inherited by his son, Anzhu; it does not explicitly state that he died in battle, therefore it is not changed to death on the battlefield.
A commander was a subordinate officer in the banner system; "appointed acting" indicates acting, while "Qiduwei" was a hereditary title based on merit. Anzhu's inheritance of the title does not imply succession to the position of commander. Andara is a Manchu clan name, and Heilongjiang is the ancestral homeland. The original text does not specify the river section or village, and it is not equivalent to a modern provincial border. The battles in Zhejiang and Yunnan belonged to Yeduhe, not to Qierkede himself, and the troop figures in the genealogy are not counted separately; modern place names, specific dates and the start and end dates of individual appointments still need to be supplemented and verified.
