Overview

The Moyueluo clan appears in Volume 62 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, and is a Manchu surname that, according to the genealogy, resided in Shumulu Village. The entry for Yunbu states that he was a bondservant of the Bordered Blue Banner, who surrendered during the Tiancong era and served as a military officer. Shumuluo here refers to his ancestral home, containing the character for "village," while Yunbu's surname is Moyueluo; these two terms have different meanings in the original text.

Tiancong was the reign title used by Huang Taiji before his conquest of China, beginning in 1627 and ending in 1636 with the change to Chongde. Therefore, Yunbu's surrender occurred during the development of the Later Jin regime, not after the Qing dynasty had already ruled the entire country. The Bordered Blue Banner was one of the Eight Banners, and bondservant (baoyi) were a group within the banner with specific hierarchical relationships; bonder members also bore military and administrative responsibilities, not just domestic labor.

Yunbu's position as a military officer was that of a low-ranking officer in the military system, whose duties were related to troop management, training, and guard duties. The original genealogy does indeed state his personal position in this short note, but it does not list his relatives or military achievements. The modern location of Shumulu Village, the year of his surrender, and his post as a military officer are yet to be verified. Currently, the only verifiable information in historical records is his surname, identity, era, and official position.
