Overview
Wang Chengde is a bondservant of the Bordered Yellow Banner recorded in Volume 75 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. The original text states that his family had lived in Wanggangtai for generations, but the exact time of their submission is not recorded. The volume uses "Wang" as the surname for related entries, but the name of the person should still be "Wang Chengde" as per the genealogy; other deeds of the same person should not be directly included in this entry.
The original text states that his son, Wang Sixian, served as a third-class imperial bodyguard; his great-grandson, Wanzhu, served as a captain; his great-great-grandson, Fulehe, served as a treasurer when the genealogy was compiled; and his fourth-generation descendant, Fengsheng'e, served as a scribe. These positions were related to imperial bodyguard, banner affairs, treasury affairs, and clerical work, respectively, but all were held by descendants of the subject. Wang Chengde himself has no explicit official position or other specific experiences recorded in this entry; therefore, positions such as imperial bodyguard and captain should not be added to his name.
"Wanggangtai" should first be considered a historical place name preserved in the original text, and should not be assigned to a modern village or town without further geographical verification. The information from different generations in this entry is not continuous, and there are unlisted figures in between. One should not add father-son relationships to make the genealogy complete. The entry for Wang Chengde is suitable as a restrained, historical biographical sketch, focusing on his banner affiliation, ancestral residence, and verifiable official positions held by his descendants.
