Overview

Dahana (originally written as "DaHaNa") appears in Volume 75 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, listed near the section on surnames related to the Wang and Li clans. The original text records that he belonged to the Bordered Yellow Banner under the jurisdiction of a bondservant, and his family had lived in the Changbai Mountain region for generations. The year of their submission is unknown, but Dahana himself once served as an assistant minister. Here, "under the jurisdiction of a bondservant" indicates their official rank, not that Dahana himself held the position of an inner steward; his explicitly recorded official position was assistant minister.

His son, Li Wengui, served as a lieutenant, and Li Wenying served as an inner steward; his grandsons, Suozhu and Liu Baozhu, served as scribes when the genealogy was compiled, and Yatu served as a scribe. These names and positions must be distinguished according to generations of descendants; the sons' experiences as lieutenants or inner stewards cannot be attributed to Dahana. The different surnames in the names of different descendants do not automatically prove that the subject had a separate, verifiable surname change history.

"Changbai Mountain region" is the traditional residential area recorded in the original historical materials; it cannot be used to accurately infer the modern birthplace. The key information preserved in Volume 75 is Dahana's banner affiliation, bondservant status, official position, and the positions held by his family descendants; the existing articles are insufficient to further determine which government office he belonged to, his specific term of office, or his achievements.
