Overview
Ye Yongquan is an ancestor of the Ye family, listed under the entry for the Ye family in Volume 78 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, an official genealogy compiled during the Qianlong reign. His family resided in Shenyang and were registered under the Plain Yellow Banner's bondservant management. Historical records do not specify the year of his submission or his official position. "Ye" is the surname heading here; this branch cannot be linked to the Yehe Nara clan or other unproven lineages simply because of the shared Han surname.
The bondservant status of the Plain Yellow Banner was under the management of the Three Banners of the Imperial Household Department. The management officer was responsible for the basic organization of related population and corvée labor. Bondservant status implied subordination to the imperial family but did not equate to a specific job position, nor did it mean that all family members held similar official positions.
The original text clearly records that his grandson, Ye Cheng'e, served as a deputy management officer, and his great-grandsons, Bashisan and Sele, served as scribes. The deputy management officer assisted the Imperial Household Department in handling court affairs and related management; the scribes were government clerks. "Eighty-three" appears alongside "Seller" in the original text; it is a personal name, not an age or number.
