Overview
Heng Jiurong was a bondservant under the Qing Dynasty's Plain White Banner. His family had lived in Shenyang for generations, but the year of their submission is unknown. The official genealogy of the Eight Banners Manchu Clans, Volume 78, under the entry for the Heng family, lists him as an ancestor, recording that his grandson, Dangse, served as an Inner Guard Commander, and his great-grandson, Jin Fuxi, served as an Assistant Minister. However, no official position is listed for Heng Jiurong himself.
The Plain White Banner was one of the Upper Three Banners, and its bondservant organization was linked to the Imperial Household Department. The position of Guard Commander was both a population management system and had corresponding officials; "subordinate to the Guard Commander" was merely Heng Jiurong's subordinate status, while his grandson Dangse's actual position was "Inner Guard Commander," and the two were not interchangeable.
The Inner Guard Command handled palace affairs, managing related warehouses and supplies, belonging to the imperial internal affairs system, not a local county-level administrative organ. Assistant Ministers were common officials in the Imperial Household Department and other ministries, and their specific duties varied depending on the official institution. The original book did not specify the department where Kim Bok-hee worked, so it cannot be concluded that he was in charge of a particular treasury or a particular province.
