Overview
Wang Bi is a figure recorded in Volume 79 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, under the section "Appendix: Surnames of the Manchu Banners' Tainikan." He belonged to the Plain Blue Banner and lived in the Dalinghe area for generations, but the year of his arrival is unknown. This entry belongs to the genealogical records of the Manchu bannermen during the Qing Dynasty and cannot be combined with Wang Bis from other dynasties simply because they share the same name. The original text does not explicitly state any official positions held by Wang Bi himself.
The genealogy records that his son, Wang Zhao, served as a Xiaoqixiao (NiaoQiXiao), his grandson, Arsai, served as a Kongmu (KongMu), his great-grandson, Gongde, served as a Xiaoqixiao when the genealogy was being compiled, and Changzhu served as a Bitieshi (BiTieShi). His great-great-grandson, Yanxi, served as Mingzan (MingZan), Haide served as Bitieshi, and Haiming served as Zhongshu (ZhongShu). Kongmu, Bitieshi, and Zhongshu were all clerical titles at different levels or in different institutions, while Mingzan was related to ceremonial chanting and other related matters; Xiaoqixiao was a banner officer position.
These official titles present multiple career paths for Wang Bi's descendants, but they may not have occurred in the same region and cannot be used to fabricate Wang Bi's personal life. The original text uses the term "current position" to reflect the state of affairs at the time of compilation, not the current official position in the modern sense. As a data-based encyclopedia, Wang Bi's reliable core should be limited to his banner affiliation, family residence, records of submission, and the clearly defined lineage of his descendants.
