Overview

Yang Shouzong appears in Volume 79 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, under the section "Appendix: Surnames of the Tainikan within the Manchu Banners." He belonged to the Bordered White Banner and resided in Liaoyang. He submitted to the Later Jin dynasty during the Tiancong era. The volume does not explicitly state any official position held by Yang Shouzong himself; therefore, his military service cannot be inferred from the military ranks of his descendants.

The original record states that his son, Yang Decheng, served as a battalion commander; his grandson, Piantu, served as a Qiduwei; his great-grandsons, Jiushi and Tongbao, served as military commanders; and his great-great-grandson, Chuohenuo, served as a military commander at the time the genealogy was compiled. This record presents the connections between several generations of the family in the Ming-Qing transition and in the Qing dynasty's banner and local military ranks, but it does not specify specific terms of service, garrison locations, military actions, or individual military achievements.

"Submitting during the Tiancong era" is a summary of the period of submission in historical materials, and does not necessarily indicate a specific action in a particular year; "Liaoyang" should also be retained as a historical place name. The positions of Military Commander, Cavalry Commander, and Defense Officer must be attributed to their correct descendants and must not be mixed up in Yang Shouzong's biography. This provision provides a clear family lineage and banner affiliation record, but it is insufficient to establish a detailed biography of his personal military achievements.
