Overview
According to the original entry, Zhu Chenggong was a member of the Plain Blue Banner, whose family had lived in Dalinghe for generations, but the year of his arrival is unknown. The genealogy subsequently preserves the following chain of relatives and their positions: he himself was originally a military officer; his son, Chakdan, was originally an assistant secretary; his grandson, Zhu Tubu, was originally a scribe; and his great-grandson, Minglun, is currently a court official. The original entry only states "Plain Blue Banner person," without mentioning bondservants or Han soldiers. Volume 79 includes related figures under the category of "Tainikan," but this genealogy classification cannot replace the banner affiliation description for each entry. "Dalinghe area" is a historical geographical description in the genealogy, which can establish a broad connection with areas of the same name today, but it is insufficient to pinpoint specific modern villages and towns.
