Clan and Banner Background

The Niegeli clan is recorded in volume 54 of the Comprehensive Genealogy of Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners, with lines at Yehe and Huifa. Huerhan of the Bordered White Banner came from Yehe and submitted early. His grandson Huxitun fought in Jiangxi and Huguang as an acting janggin and earned yunqiwei; his son Changming inherited the hereditary distinction and served as company-group commander. Other descendants held appointments as ministry directors, secretaries, infantry-company officers, niru commanders, and bithesi.

Family Service and Distinctions

Two Bordered Blue Banner branches from Huifa, descended from Dachuka and Langqi, also submitted early. Dachuka's family included Muchen, an infantry officer; Tuoxi, a ministry director; and Sanyatu, a fifth-grade ceremonial official. Langqi's descendants included Salantai, a guard-company officer, and Hanban, an assistant director at the time of compilation. The source does not provide an uninterrupted close-ancestor link joining all these lines.

Kinship, Succession, and Evidence

The “acting” modifier on Huxitun's command should be preserved. A janggin was an early Manchu official designation whose duties depended on its context. Niru and company-group officers served in banner organization; ceremonial and ministry officials belonged to other institutions, while a bithesi handled clerical and translation work. Names, places, and appointment dates require verification.
