Identity and Banner affiliation
Feiyangwu was an early Qing member of the Irgen Gioro clan of the Plain White Banner, whose family was associated with Namdulu. Volume 15 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Eight Banner Manchu Clans* records that the household joined the Manchu polity in its early period. His name is retained in the form represented by the supplied Chinese manuscript. It should not be silently equated with similarly sounding names such as Feiyanggu or with people of another clan without specific genealogical proof.
Appointments across three generations
Feiyangwu himself formerly served as a *hujunxiao*, a military officer within the Guard establishment, which combined organizational and security responsibilities. His grandson Shuose formerly served as a *xiaoqixiao*, associated with the management of Banner soldiers. The two posts had different organizational jurisdictions, notwithstanding their shared military character.
A great-grandson, Zhaomin, formerly served as a *yuanwailang*, an administrative officer within a departmental bureaucracy. The compound title *yuanwailang* was a formal office designation, not a reference to a prosperous civilian patron. The source does not identify Zhaomin's ministry, and the family's military background is insufficient to assign him to the Board of War.
Limits of the record
The genealogy shows a family in which service extended across military and civil administration, but it does not provide a continuous series of offices inherited within one unit. It leaves the intervening paternal names, any personal war exploits and the exact dates of appointment undocumented. Namdulu's modern geographical identification and the original spelling of Feiyangwu's name also require independent examination of primary texts.
