Overview
The Tong'e Luo clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 57 of the officially compiled *Comprehensive Genealogy of Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, scattered in places like Zhakuta. Zhakdan of the Bordered White Banner resided in Zhakuta for generations, surrendering to the Qing dynasty at its beginning. His great-grandson, Borbo, served as a military officer, and Tongtai as a cavalry officer. His great-great-grandson held various positions including defense officer, infantry officer, military officer, and vanguard officer. The genealogy records the division of labor among multiple descendants, not a list of Zhakdan's concurrent positions.
Woji, from the same banner and region, is clearly of the same clan as Zhakdan. His grandson, Miaotai, served as a scribe; Hualintai also resided in Zhakuta, and his son, Muchen, served as a military officer. Kaikaze of the Bordered White Banner originally lived in Bayan Ula. His grandson, Luoduoli, served as a cavalry officer, and his great-grandson, Churhana, served as a deputy military commander. They also surrendered to the Qing dynasty at its beginning.
The cavalry, military officers, and vanguard officers each had different organizational structures and responsibilities, while the scribe handled paperwork such as copying and translation. While clearly identifying them as being of the same clan establishes a connection, it doesn't allow for further estimation of the exact generational relationship between Woji and Zhakdan. Additionally, the ancestral home of the Arsei clan of the Bordered Blue Banner was in Dangwuli, which was withdrawn from Khorchin during the Kangxi era, a period different from the previous group. The ancestral home, Manchu surnames, and complete lineages of the Zhakuta and Bayan Ula clans still need verification; they should not be arbitrarily merged with other surnames of similar character.
