Overview
Naqin is a bannerman recorded under the Guojia clan in Volume 57 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. The genealogy explicitly states he was a member of the Bordered Blue Banner, his family having lived in Gaizhou for generations, and records that he himself served as a cavalry captain. This official record can be directly attributed to Naqin and should not be confused with the positions of his sons and nephews. The genealogy does not specify his birth and death dates, the exact dates of his official appointments, nor does it record any independent military achievements.
The *Comprehensive Genealogy* also preserves information on the official positions of several branches of Naqin's family: his son, Boji, also served as a cavalry captain; his elder brother, Meng'an's son, Song'ai, served as a lieutenant; related branches also record Subai as a second-class guard and Eruntai as a defense officer. Naqin's younger brother, Gelitai's son, Yisang'a, served as a defense officer; Nahai served as a scribe; and his descendant, Fude, served as a fifth-rank official at the time of compiling the book. Because the original text lists the direct and collateral branches consecutively, all these names cannot be simply written as Naqin's children and grandchildren.
The historical value of this entry lies in the fact that it simultaneously provides clear information about the individual's official position and the occupations of multiple relatives. However, Gaizhou is a family ancestral residence, so it cannot be used to determine the location where Naqin served as a cavalry commander; furthermore, the titles of zuoling, Huwei, Dianyi, and Bitieshi are not the same. Therefore, a detailed account of his life should be based solely on the actual records in the genealogy.
