Overview
Lalik is a figure recorded in Volume 58 of the *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*; those with the same name cannot be automatically merged based solely on their surnames. The genealogy places Lalik under the heading "Hejia Clan"; here, Lalik remains the main entry, and the surname heading only indicates the family arrangement in the genealogy and cannot replace the individual's name. According to the original entry, Lalik was a member of the Bordered Yellow Banner, residing in Nayin. The original entry only states "Bordered Yellow Banner member," without mentioning bondservants or Han soldiers. "Nayin" preserves important clues about the ancestral home, but currently lacks sufficient place name evidence to confirm its modern location; therefore, the original name should be maintained and marked as pending further investigation. Defense was a military post within the Eight Banners garrison system, assisting in the management of camp affairs and defense; its actual jurisdiction must be determined in conjunction with the garrison location. The genealogy subsequently preserves the following chain of relatives and positions: originally a Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank); his son, Alantai, originally a defense officer.
