Overview
Landa is a figure recorded in Volume 58 of the *the Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*; those with the same name cannot be automatically merged based solely on their surnames. The genealogy places Landa under the heading "Hejili Clan"; here, Landa remains the main entry, and the surname heading only indicates the family arrangement in the genealogy and cannot replace the individual's name. According to the original entry, Landa was a member of the Bordered Blue Banner, residing in Huifa. "Huifa Place" preserves important clues about the ancestral home, but currently lacks sufficient place name evidence to confirm its modern location; the original name should be maintained and marked as pending further investigation. Third-class guard was a rank within the guard system of princely residences; without specifying the affiliated residence, the service recipient cannot be determined. The genealogy subsequently preserves the following chain of relatives and positions: originally a Qiduwei (hereditary merit rank); his son, He'er, originally a third-class guard. The original entry only states "Bordered Blue Banner person," without mentioning bondservants or Han soldiers.
