Overview
The genealogy book lists Chang Shou under the heading "Bila Clan," but the main subject of the entry is still Chang Shou himself; the surname heading indicates the arrangement and cannot replace the name. According to the original entry, Chang Shou was a member of the Plain Blue Banner and lived in Changbai Mountain. The genealogy then preserves the following chain of relatives and positions: former Doctor; his son Zhuo Erhe, former Cavalry Commander; grandson Luo Gan, former Infantry Commander. The original entry only states "Plain Blue Banner," without mentioning bondservants or Han soldiers. "Changbai Mountain area" refers to a historical geographical area and cannot be determined solely by the name to be a specific county, city, or mountain pass today. Doctors can be found in educational institutions such as the Imperial Academy, and their specific duties depended on the government office they belonged to; this entry does not specify the institution.
