Overview

Lin Shangzong is recorded under the Lin clan entry in Volume 78 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. He was a bondservant of the Plain Yellow Banner, and his family had lived in Fushun for generations. The original text states that the year of his arrival is unknown and does not record Lin Shangzong's official position. The main text should focus on his banner affiliation, ancestral home, and the official positions of his descendants clearly recorded in the genealogy.

His grandsons Keyin and Sange both served as sixth-rank officials, and Heshan served as a scribe. His great-grandson Chengming served as a deputy commander of the Imperial Household Department, Changzai served as a third-class imperial bodyguard, Baozhu and Liuzhu served as scribes, and Wuge served as a stable master. His great-great-grandson Liushi served as a deputy commander of the Imperial Household Department, and Guanyin Baozai served as a scribe when the genealogy was being compiled. The original text presents records of different branches of the same family holding positions in the Imperial Household Department, as well as in palace guard and clerical posts. The duties of the stable master and the deputy commander of the Imperial Household Department also differ.

While Ke Yin and San Ge are listed as grandchildren, this does not confirm that they are brothers. The genealogy does not specify which son each grandchild comes from. To further reconstruct Lin Shangzong's detailed genealogy, it is necessary to consult other banner records, family genealogies, or official appointment records, rather than directly inferring the parent-child relationship based on the same generation.
